Turns out I'm not keeping up to date with my blog.... Ah well. Here's the news. It's July 4th.... in Kiltumper and to celebrate, I brought in some red white and blue sweet peas for the table. Not much for a Yank but after 24 years it feels like just another day. Meanwhile, the family and I have been to France for our holiday... a lovely village in the Maritime Alps called Valbonne, very near to Grasse and Mougin. It was a holiday to celebrate both our children's accomplishments, one in finishing the Leaving Cert and the other in graduating from the National College of Art and Design. (Check out her website: www.deirdremaywilliams.com ) We're just back, in fact. The garden is bustling with colour and scent, but weeding it has given me a back ache today. With the sun shining there's nothing to complain about. The swallows are doing their daily maneuvers between the rafters in the open cabin and the air above my garden as the babies have learned how to fly.

Next weekend sees the first of our Kiltumper Writing Workshops for this year and we are looking forward to another one on the Bank Holiday weekend in August.

If you're interested in a nice article on Co Clare.... the husband wrote a very good piece for the travel section of the Irish Times

Hi Christine,

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog...It was nice to get a little message from you. You are
always welcome to stop in anytime. :)

I hope that you don't stop posting on your blog. I enjoy reading all that is new....

I find that I don't always have the time to post. And that's okay... I would write it if no one read it anyway... and most of the time no one does. LOL!

Best wishes with your newest writting workshop.
Maybe one day I will attend.

Hello from a native of Kilkee living up the coast in Kinvara. Thanks for the link to that great article on Co. Clare. Recently on my blog I mentioned 'Postscript' by Heaney and how he just captured the athmosphere of the Flaggy Shore. Also, I used to work in the Clare Museum and one day an American lady told me of a legend involving 'The Giant Of Kiltumper'?

I enjoyed the Irish Times piece, especially since my husband and I are in the process of purchasing a cottage just outside Lisheen, near the Moveen Nat'l School, and I love reading anything to do with County Clare. We live in Chicago, I am a life long Chicagoan, though my husband is a Dub. Anyway, it looks like we may be 'neighbors' so to speak! Funny, I remember when your first book came out and I heard you and Niall being interviewed on some U.S. morning show, may have even been a Chicago show. Your new life in Clare and the courageous choice you made to relocate there sounded so wonderful to me that I went straight out and purchased your book. At that time, the idea that I would one day own a place in County Clare would have been beyond a pipe dream. Funny how life is full of surprises, some of them even very nice surprises!

Coming to live in a friend's cottage in Labasheeda, just a bit down from you. Have your book in hand as of today from our library and thank you for writing it. Can you yet write me personally so that I can know is buying a car still as difficult as your car describes. Suzannetherealtor@yahoo.com
Google my husband David Wilkening A lifelong travel writer but this is a journey for us not his writing...something he promised me. We are 68 and 70 and about due a holiday away from deadlines. Are you still in Kiltumper?

WE are coming to stay for a while in the village near you - Labasheeda - in a friend's cottage. Are you still in Kiltumper? We are 68 and 70 respectfully - google my husband David Wilkening -- travelmole editor for a bit and lifelong travel writer but this is a journey for us alone. AT 68 and 70 we are going to slow down from deadlines. Got your book from our library today and need to know is it still as difficult to buy and insure a car in Ireland if an "alien"? Can you write me? Suzannetherealtor@yahoo.com
And thanks..love your story
